In the fall of 2023, the iPhone 15 is expected to be released. What updates await this line of smartphones from Apple? There are a lot of rumors, and what will be the iPhone 15 exactly, will be known only after the release. Let's consider what expectations analysts have for this model.

Design of iPhone 15

Apple wants to bring all models in the iPhone 15 lineup to a single design. It is planned that the smartphones will now have an island-shaped drop-shaped cutout on the screen instead of a visor.

The side bezel of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max case will be made of titanium metal. Previously, surgical steel was used. Why did they decide to replace it with titanium? This metal is lighter than surgical steel. This will make it possible to equip the device with heavier components: the battery will weigh more, the periscopic camera is also heavier than usual.

The iPhone 15 will be thicker, so cases from the previous model will not fit. It is assumed that such a change is inevitable because of the new larger battery. The smartphone will become thicker than 8 mm.

The back panel is likely to remain flat. A rounded back cover weighs more, therefore would weigh down the smartphone. On the side edge of the iPhone has a toggle switch silent mode. However, they want to replace it with a button.

Periscopic camera in iPhone 15 PRO

The top camera of the periscopic type will receive only flagships - models iPhone 15 PRO and PRO Max. Will it really be better than the usual camera or is it just a marketing move? Periscope technology makes it possible to take pictures while being far away from the object. A six times zoom will be available. The quality will not be lost when zooming in, there will be no blurring.

Disadvantages of the periscopic camera:
  • The camera module is installed perpendicular to the cover of the smartphone, deep into the gadget. It is quite massive. So, the camera unit on the back panel will protrude even more.
  • If the lighting is insufficient, the pictures will become darker. You'll have to process the photos in an editor.
  • The periscopic camera is more expensive than the regular camera. This will increase the cost of the iPhone 15.

New Wi-Fi module

Smartphones will support wi-fi 7 so that there will be the best possible compatibility with VR helmet. Internet speeds will also increase by 4x and 7x. If now used 9.6 Gbit per second, it will become as much as 46 Gbit. Of course, these are the results of laboratory tests. In real conditions, the speed will be significantly lower due to interference.

This wi-fi module will work in three frequency ranges and interact with them simultaneously. The technology built into it can combine 5 and 6 GHz frequencies. The router will be able to select the most suitable channel for operation. Thanks to this, the coverage area and signal speed will be greater.

The channel width will also increase to 327 MHz. In the previous version of wi-fi 6, it amounted to 160 MHz. This will increase the stability of the network. The peculiarity of the 6 GHz range is that in it there is no interference congestion. It operates only at a short distance, no more than 13 meters. Thanks to this, the network will not interfere with the equipment in the neighboring apartment.

Other changes in the iPhone 15

What the manufacturer wants to change in iPhone 15:

  • The connection interface will change from Lightning to USB-C.
  • The charger should become twice as powerful - 40 watts.
  • In the entire line they want to replace the battery with a novelty with the methodology of Stacked battery. It is special in that the cells are stacked inside the battery in a wavy pattern. It is filled with energy more evenly, the capacity increases. The battery will be heated over the entire area, not just in spots. This minimizes cell wear.
  • The storage capacity in PRO versions will be at least 256 GB.
  • A next-generation processor will be installed.
  • The PRO version of the iPhone 15 will add up to 8GB of RAM. In the simple model of iPhone 15 it will remain the same - 6 GB.

Manufacturers warn in advance that the iPhone 15 will become more expensive. Will the high price be justified by changes in the equipment of the gadget and its design? This we will know only some time after the release, when users will evaluate the new smartphones in practice.
