Loft style interior design: what it is, features, where it is suitable

The meaning of the name «loft» says a lot about the features of the style of the same name. This term means: «loft, attic, top floor of a factory or production shop». A room decorated with loft looks like a workshop or a garage. This style is used not only in creative studios and offices. Loft design makes the original and residential space.

Features of the loft style in the interior

This urban-manufactured design reflects all the characteristic features of industrial premises:

• Large area, high ceilings and large windows. This gives a lot of free space and light.

• The minimum of furniture is used. The style is modern, minimalist or antique.
• A mix of styles. Antique brick walls, dilapidated wooden window frames are combined with upholstered furniture, modern appliances, paintings and mirrors.
• Fireplaces, stoves decorate the interior and can be not only a decorative object, but also a means of additional heating.

The room is zoned not only with partitions, but also with furniture, for example, a sofa turned along the dividing line. In order not to clutter the space in the living space, arrange pantries, utility rooms and walk-in closets.

In the kitchen, special emphasis on appliances: refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, etc. Equipment with a coating that resembles metal is most suitable for loft interiors. The equipment is also built into the tables.

If the room has very high ceilings, it can be made two-level. You can equip the second floor in part of the space or the entire area, install a stylish staircase made of wood or metal.

Even in one interior style, there are options with their own features. Loft is popular in such modifications:

• Industrial. The most popular design. Emphasis in it on the items of the factory interior: wires, pipes, lamps without chandeliers, wooden beams, shelving, etc. Furniture of strict forms of minimalist style.
• Bohemian. Factory space is combined with creative furniture and decor, shabby aged things with new and modern items. Pictures, figurines, ikebans and other art objects are necessarily present.
• Glamorous. This style creates a combination of pastel shades and classic colors for loft: gray, black and brown, pink or lilac with gray. Emphasis is placed on lamps, chandeliers and LED lighting. The room is decorated with baroque mirrors, skins on the floor and large flowers in large pots.

Loft style is suitable for decorating art studios, offices, cafes, stores, private houses and apartments. It is chosen by connoisseurs of industrial design, free space and an abundance of natural light from windows. Loft design is also suitable for regular rooms with standard ceiling heights.
