- 15.02.2025
Roller blinds are a cloth cloth, screwed on a tube-fixator. They are attached in the same way as blinds for windows. The cloth is opened with a cord or chain. Some models use a mechanism on springs. Let's consider the types of roller blinds and what is better to choose.
Types of roller blinds
Features of roller blinds of the open type:
- They consist of a continuous fabric sheet and a tube, on which it is screwed.
- Roller blinds are fixed on the window box, or on the wall above it or on the ceiling.
- At the bottom of the curtain is sewn in a weighting device made of metal. It stretches the fabric evenly. At the bottom of the frame are fixed magnets that hold the curtain.
- Roller blinds of the open type do not adhere to the window and let in light at the edges.
Roller blinds with a cassette system are arranged in such a way that the tube, on which the cloth is screwed, is closed with a box. It is fixed to the frame of the window. On the side parts of the frame there are guides. This creates a tight fit of the cloth to the window around the entire perimeter. Closed roller blinds completely isolate the room from light penetration. This design has a more complex installation and higher cost.
Materials of roller blinds
Roller blinds are made of such fabrics:
- Transparent cloths made of cotton, nylon or linen look delicate and diffuse light well. They are suitable for dining rooms, living rooms, porches and other rooms where you do not need to completely darken the window.
- Bamboo fabric or other natural materials that are pleasant to the touch and let in light.
- Dimout fabric is a dense fabric that dims the room by about 80%.
- Blackout fabric is a material made of several layers. It has the lowest light penetration. Such roller blinds will protect the room from the sun almost 100%. This is a great option for the bedroom.
