The main types of reinforced concrete products (RCP) and the peculiarities of their application
- 23.08.2023
Reinforced concrete products are construction materials that consist of concrete and metal reinforcement. Iron elements provide the strength of structures. Concrete takes on the compressive stress from the weight and protects the reinforcement from corrosion.
The main types of reinforced concrete products
Classification of products made of concrete and reinforcement includes such directions:
- Reinforced concrete products for residential and public buildings - foundation blocks, piles, stair treads, reinforced concrete lintels, etc.
- Reinforced concrete products for industrial facilities - floor slabs, foundation blocks, airfield slabs and products according to drawings for individual order.
- Reinforced concrete products for road construction - paving slabs, curbs, road slabs, etc.
- Reinforced concrete products for engineering structures - blocks for wells, concrete trays for water drainage, etc.
Features of the application of some reinforced concrete products
Foundation blocks solid (FBS) are used for the construction of the bases of residential and industrial buildings, basements, cellars. These structures are without voids, so they are called solid. They are made in the form of a rectangular parallelepiped with notches at the corners for connection between each other and fixation.
Reinforced concrete piles are made of a metal frame and concrete with minimal moisture absorption. These are support structures that are used in the construction of foundations, bridges, engineering structures. They strengthen the soil. Depending on the purpose and conditions, the cross-section and shape of reinforced concrete piles differ.
Reinforced concrete lintels are installed over doorways and windows to reinforce the structure. They provide rigidity and compressive strength. The reinforcement in them is made of steel and high quality concrete is used. Concrete lintels differ in purpose. They are subdivided into these types:
- Bar lintels for strengthening window and door openings.
- Facade lintels of high strength can withstand heavy weight loads. They reinforce the building from the outside.
- Beam corner lintels are installed between the opening and the plane of concrete slabs.
- Slab lintels are flat. They are used in the construction of buildings made of brick or stone.
Concrete steps are designed for installation inside multi-storey buildings in entrances or outside, in front of the entrance to the building. Steps with a smooth surface are installed in the entrances of houses. Stairs with grooves are suitable for installation on the street. When such steps are wet from rain, they are not as slippery as a smooth surface.
Road slabs are high-strength structures. They are used for paving roads, placed in places of access for cars at industrial facilities, parking lots. Road slabs are suitable for the construction of temporary roads. If necessary, they can be dismantled and reused.
Reinforced concrete rings are used for the arrangement of wells, sewerage. To prevent dirt from getting into the drinking water, they are hermetically sealed together. Reinforced concrete rings with a lock are best suited for wells.
