Types and features of shut-off valves, where they are installed and what they are needed for

Shut-off valves are regulating and protecting mechanisms. They are installed in pipes in order to shut off the flow of water, liquids, gases partially or completely. Let's consider what kind of shut-off valves and where they are installed.
Types of shut-off valves
Mechanisms that are installed in pipelines, there are several types, depending on their purpose:
- Industrial shutoff valves are robust, large in size. It is installed in pipelines in plants, factories.
- Shut-off valves for especially dangerous industries are reinforced for strength, can be equipped with heating, shockproof housing, special seals. It is installed in chemical and explosive industries, in areas with very low temperatures and in the mountains.
- Profile shut-off valves are manufactured in small batches for special equipment.
- Sanitary household shut-off valves are installed in homes and offices.
- Garden shut-off valves are used in irrigation lines, storage tanks, sprinklers.
Shut-off valves can perform the function of blocking and regulating the flow of water or gas, distribute them. There are mechanisms that prevent pressure changes, liquid backflow and pipeline bursting. Protective shut-off valves in case of an accident isolate pumps, filters, meters. Separation mechanisms in trunk lines divide the medium in the pipe into several phases, for example, separates liquid from gas.
The main types of shut-off valves:
- Gate valves consist of a body, stem, flywheel, disk, seal and fasteners. This device can be installed in rooms with and without heating. The shut-off system is fixed with flanges. The tightness of fastening is checked visually. The gate valve is adjusted by turning the handle on top.
- Valves can be manually or electrically operated. They are installed on the mains with technical liquids in the home and in production.
- Valves prevent the flow of liquid from moving in the wrong direction. They protect pumps and, filters and meters. Thanks to this, leaks are minimized.
Features of shut-off valves
Quality mechanisms that shut off the movement of liquids and gases in the mains meet these requirements:
- The system is completely integral, there is no mechanical damage in it. Defective products can not be installed, because the parts can burst and crack, the tightness will be broken, the pressure in the system will change, there will be a leak.
- The quality of seals directly affects the tightness of the system. If misting and water drops occur, it means that the gaskets are worn out or the connection is not properly installed.
- Adjustment should be smooth and without delays. All moving parts move freely.
Quality shut-off valves are sold with a certificate and accompanying documents. These can be requested from the salesperson in the store or from the courier upon delivery.
