10.01.2023

Some types of production produce fine dust or hazardous substances that are difficult to remove. In medical institutions, viruses and bacteria get on clothes. It is more profitable and convenient to use disposable overalls than to equip a laundry, install special equipment, and contain additional staff of laundresses.

Features of protective clothing

Disposable suits are distinguished by lightness and special material properties. Overalls are designed for two main purposes:

  • Insulation and tightness - the suit keeps out air, bacteria, viruses and moisture.
  • Filtration - protection from the finest dust and other impurities in the air.

Which type of workwear is appropriate depends on the conditions in which it will be used. Some types of production from the suit requires both insulation and filtration. Then use overalls made of combined fabrics that combine both properties.

Materials of which disposable overalls are made:

  • Tyvek - polyethylene fibers, woven in a thin layer with many microscopic holes. The material is impermeable to water, but does not prevent steam from escaping.
  • Viscose from recycled wood pulp - a fabric with high hygroscopicity.
  • Spunbond - synthetic continuous filaments laid in canvas. Products made of it are hypoallergenic, breathable and dust-free.
  • Meltblown - nonwoven material of whipped polypropylene fibers, which is impermeable to microorganisms.
  • CMC fabric is a combination of 2 layers of spunbond and 1 layer of meltblown in between.
  • Polypropylene material with a polyethylene coating for overalls is impermeable to air, completely insulates from the external environment.

Overalls made of multilayer fabric CMC protects from chemicals, dust and at the same time is comfortable to use. The choice of fabric of disposable suit depends on the environment in which to work in it:

  • There are no toxic components in the air - a breathable fabric such as spunbond will do.
  • In the room there are toxic impurities - clothes made of filtering material or meltblown are used.
  • The environment contains toxic substances - polypropylene covered with polyethylene or other fabrics that are not breathable will do.

Overalls for different conditions are equipped with pockets, flaps, hoods for convenience. Seams are additionally insulated for tightness, which is especially important for suits with protection against chemicals, bacteria and viruses. The clothes have a loose fit, so that they do not hinder the movement, and a strict fit for comfort and safety.

Use of overalls

Disposable overalls used in laboratories, hospitals, especially where the staff is in contact with infectious diseases. Overalls are needed at enterprises that produce hazardous chemicals, medicines, construction, beauty salons and other areas.

Suits and robes for disposable use are put on underwear. There are overalls, which are worn over regular clothes. Also to overalls include hats, gloves, aprons, shoe covers.

Disposable protective clothing is disposed of in accordance with sanitary requirements, depending on the contamination. If there are microorganisms or chemically hazardous substances on the suit, it is placed in a special container and disposed of. At some facilities, disposable overalls are sent for recycling.
