How to decorate a house for Halloween: 5 universal tips

04.12.2022

The holiday Halloween is considered traditional for the United States and European countries. It is also gaining popularity in other regions. This is another reason to have fun and have a good time with friends. The popularity of this kind of events is due to their thematic coloring. The interior uses a lot of spooky paraphernalia, and the guests at the party try on images of mystical characters.

Tip #1: Use a lot of decor

Special attention should be paid to the entourage. The task is to decorate the venue of the party to the maximum. When inviting friends, take care that the house is decorated, both outside and inside. Don't be afraid to go overboard: the more spooky the decor, the more atmospheric the party will be.

The most popular Halloween decorations are:

  • Paper garlands in the form of dangling spiders and bats;
  • Chinese pumpkin lanterns;
  • Decorative cobwebs in different colors: black, orange, white;
  • banners with spooky pictures: zombies, graveyard, ghosts, etc.;
  • stickers on the wall;
  • spirals with pumpkins/spiders/turtles hanging from the ceiling;
  • moults of severed limbs;
  • flags;
  • balloons.

Since this is a party, guests are expected to eat and drink. We recommend not putting regular dishes on the table. First, you'll have to spend a lot of time cleaning them after the party. Secondly, it will spoil the entourage. It is better to buy disposable cups and plates in dark shades with images of monsters or pumpkins.

Tip #2: Stick with a black and orange color scheme

The traditional colors for Halloween have been orange and black. Orange is associated with fall, fallen leaves and the pumpkin harvest. Black is associated with night, mysticism and the evil that lurks in the twilight. Therefore, these colors should prevail in the interior and on the holiday table. It is necessary to choose decorations in this color palette. These are inflatable balloons, garlands, banners, stickers, etc. To enhance the atmosphere of the holiday, you can also use real pumpkins.

Tip #3: Use candles

The atmosphere for Halloween celebrations should be as dark as possible. Proper lighting will help to create it. Do away with the usual light bulbs and fixtures. It's better to replace them with candles: wax or battery-operated. The more candles you have, the more atmospheric the party will be. Candles can help to transport guests to the Middle Ages, which goes well with the holiday. However, do not place the candles too close together, so as not to overdo the lighting. The light in the house should be dim and flickering.

Tip #4: Work out the menu

The entire Halloween party should be steeped in mystique. This includes the menu for the holiday table. We've already talked about serving and what kind of dishes are best for guests. Now let's consider food and drink. In American culture, there is such a drink as punch. It is a cocktail that consists of alcohol, fruit juice and fruit. It is served in a large container, and guests approach with glasses and pour it with a ladle.

As for food, the table can be served with pumpkin in different interpretations, baked apples, all kinds of sweets, etc. The most popular are homemade caramels with nuts and apple toffee. You can also buy jelly candy in the form of worms, eye apples, spiders, brains, etc. Or bake cookies that mimic human fingers.

Having a menu will be a big plus. It can be done on a special paper. For example, artificially aged paper or find and download a menu template in a sinister style from the Internet. We also recommend coming up with scary names for dishes and drinks. For example, smoothie "Blood of a witch", punch "Poison Potion", raspberry pie "Human Brains", etc.

Tip #5: Make gifts for guests

So, Halloween decorations are chosen, the menu is made, it's time to take care of souvenirs for guests. This will help make the evening even more unforgettable. You can present presents before the meal, putting them on each guest's plate. Or at the end of the evening at the moment of farewell. These souvenirs do not have to be expensive and valuable. Various trinkets can be given as gifts. However, it is important that they be themed.

Ideas of gifts for guests:

  • Magnets on the fridge in the form of pumpkins, ghosts, spiders;
  • elements of carnival costumes - horns, wigs, hoops with ears, etc.;
  • transferable tattoos;
  • sets of sweets - jelly or chocolate;
  • themed masks;
  • light decorations;
  • trinkets;
  • greeting cards;
  • snapshots taken at the party.

Halloween is a great excuse to spend time with family and friends. Be sure to have a good time, relax, and get even closer to each other.
