How to choose a wall lamp
First of all, determine with the task of the lighting fixture:
- If you need to create a subdued light as an additional or basic light for the evening time before going to bed, suit the surface sconces closed or semi-closed type, classical sconces with a lampshade or plafond, scattering rays.
- When you want to highlight interior objects use directional light devices open or with a plafond with closed walls and open top. It collects light into a beam and directs it to the desired object. If the object to be illuminated will not be repositioned, you can choose a small lamp on a bracket or on a fixed leg. To direct the light to different objects, you need a movable foot or swiveling plafond.
- If you want local lighting at the workplace, the light should be bright enough and clearly directed. Swivel sconces with a plafond, lights on a movable pole are suitable. Then you can shine on certain places of the table, chair, floor, where the working material is spread, on a shelf with tools.
- For the main lighting, you need lamps with large lampshades and a powerful bulb. If the room is quite large, you can use several wall lights on different levels.
Choosing a wall lamp, pay attention to the quality of the material. Plastic products are cheaper, but they are short-lived. Fixtures made of metal or ceramic look stylish and last for a long time. If they are to be turned on frequently, it is important to consider the level of power consumption. It is specified in the documentation of the luminaire.
